20 Words to Describe a Best-in-Class Billing & Payment Solution

Billing Payments

This Thanksgiving season, Paymentus is especially thankful. For the past 20 years, we’ve proudly served thousands of billers and millions of their customers through our billing and payment solution.

Throughout these two decades, we’ve remained dedicated to continuously earning the trust and partnership of our clients through our next-generation solution (and so much more). This has resulted in numerous innovations that have enabled Paymentus to earn best-in-class status.

But while our world may look drastically different today as compared to 20 years ago, the core billing and payment principles that have driven Paymentus since its inception remain. Which is why we thought it would be fun to ask our experts for a single word to describe what a best-in-class billing and payment solution should be. In honor of our 20th anniversary, here are our 20 words.

Simple and Secure Reign Supreme

As represented in the word cloud, two words stood out from the rest: simple and secure. It’s little surprise to see either well represented on our list. Naturally, Paymentus is dedicated to the highest levels of security in all that we do. Our dedicated team combines technical and consultative expertise to deliver a solution that is safe and secure for our clients and their customers.

Simple has been a staple of Paymentus literally since its inception.

We started this company to simplify bill payments, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. With the successful collaboration of our team, colleagues, amazing customers and partners, we continue in our journey to provide easy, fast and innovative solutions to the market and its many consumers who deserve the best. The best part is, we’re just getting started.”

Dushyant Sharma, Founder and CEO, Paymentus

The goal of any great billing and payment solution should be to make it as easy as possible to receive a bill, pay a bill and accept a payment. Simplicity, however, is increasingly complex. That’s why it’s essential that billing and payments be comprehensive, inclusive, accessible and modern. Ask a digital native or cash-reliant consumer to describe simple and you’ll get two very different answers. A best-in-class solution will accommodate each without the need for added layers or gateways.

“Less” Equals More

Seamless, effortless and frictionless all earned multiple mentions from our experts. What’s interesting is that they either complement each other or support the idea of simple and secure.

In particular, seamlessness is a foundation of a multi-faceted, omnichannel solution. The ability for a consumer to pay through various channels while enjoying a similar experience is paramount to payment completion.

But this would mean little if it hinders reporting and reconciliation. All payment methods and channels must be easy to track and process to ensure smooth business operations. And the dashboard must serve as a production driver, not simply a way to view payments information.

Honorable Mentions

There are a few descriptors that are deserving of a separate mention:

Inclusive – Organizations must work to accommodate the payment situations of all customers. For this reason, Paymentus offers everything from digital wallets to cash bill payments and in-store retail payments.

Innovative – Innovation is not simply about always adding what’s new. Innovation can be anything from incorporating chatbots to sending timely and tailored payment notifications—within a system that is designed to incorporate these capabilities without development resources.

Reliable – Last but not least, reliability is the cornerstone of any billing and payment solution. There’s no substitute for continuous uptime. Particularly when driving digital payment adoption is a necessity, having a system work as it should every time is key to gaining trust and usage.
